When to See a Specialist
Talk to your doctor or make an appointment for wound care if you:
- Have a wound that hasn’t healed at least 50 percent in four weeks
- Have diabetes and develop an ulcer or sore

Diabetic Foot Care
If you live with diabetes and develop foot ulcers, Essentia offers the following treatments:
- Debridement – Removes dead or damaged tissue to improve healing of healthy tissue
- Live-tissue graft – Uses placental tissue to speed up healing
- Negative-pressure wound therapy – Pulls air out of a closed dressing to improve blood flow
- Total contact casting (TCC) – Encloses your foot and lower leg in a special cast that redistributes your weight during daily activities to help your foot heal
Pressure Ulcer Care
If you or a loved one uses a wheelchair or spends lots of time in bed, you face an increased risk of developing pressure ulcers, or bedsores. Our wound care team can help you to heal pressure sores and prevent new ones from forming.
