Dr. Igor Pedreira Vaz is a dedicated cardiologist who joined Essentia Health because of its strong commitment to patient-centered care and its mission to make a difference in the community. He was drawn to the collaborative environment, where colleagues worked together to provide the best possible care for patients.
Dr. Igor chose cardiology as his specialty because it allowed him to build lasting relationships with patients and work across a wide range of clinical situations. He has a special interest in caring for underserved populations and is passionate about promoting health equity. He is also committed to providing inclusive care, ensuring that patients from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ individuals, felt respected and supported.
Fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, Dr. Vaz creates a welcoming environment for patients of all backgrounds. He believes in empowering his patients and fostering a safe, compassionate space where they feel heard.
Outside of work, Dr. Vaz enjoys playing soccer, hiking, and caring for his bonsai trees, which helps him to stay grounded. He is married to his high school sweetheart, who has supported him throughout his journey, and they share their home with a playful dog who loves chasing balls.
