Emily Bergstedt, MD

Emily Bergstedt, MD, is a family medicine physician at Essentia Health, where she is passionate about building long-term relationships with her patients and supporting their health journeys through all stages of life. Born and raised in Esko, Minnesota, Dr. Bergstedt always planned to return to the Northland to practice medicine and serve the community that shaped her. After spending five years in the Twin Cities completing her education, she is thrilled to be back up north with her husband, Seth, and close to their families. 

Dr. Bergstedt chose family medicine because it allows her to care for patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults, and to treat entire families. She has special interests in pediatrics, geriatrics, lifestyle medicine, weight management, and women’s health. Her approach to medicine is deeply personal, drawing on her background as an English major. She values the opportunity to connect with patients, learn their stories, and support them through both the triumphs and challenges of their health. 

Outside of work, Dr. Bergstedt enjoys hiking the Minnesota North Shore, gardening, singing in choir, and road-tripping with her husband, who works as a biostatistician. Together, they share a love of music and exploring the outdoors. Dr. Bergstedt is honored to be part of Essentia Health, a system that aligns with her commitment to helping people live healthier, more fulfilling lives. She looks forward to caring for her patients and making a positive impact in her hometown community.
