Ashley Brown, MD

Dr. Ashley Brown practices family medicine with obstetrics, providing full-spectrum hospital and clinic care. She joined Essentia Health in 2024.   

Dr. Brown completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at San Diego State University and her Master’s in Public Health at Touro University. She received her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean, training in Sint Maarten, England, and the US. Dr. Brown completed a rural family medicine residency in Spokane and Colville, WA, followed by a fellowship in Surgical Obstetrics at the University of Rochester in NY.

Prior to joining Essentia, Dr. Brown spent four years training medical students and family medicine residents while active duty in the Air Force, serving as faulty for both the University of Nebraska and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She completed a faculty development fellowship during that time. Dr. Brown continues to be involved in education as assistant faculty for the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Duluth and a community preceptor for the family medicine residency. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, teaching at regional and national conferences and publishing in their medical journal.   

Dr. Brown’s medical interests include women’s health and obstetrics, fertility, care for LBGTQIA populations and gender-affirming care, substance use treatment, lifestyle medicine, wilderness medicine, public and population health, and physician well-being. She provides a broad range of procedural care in clinic, including battlefield acupuncture for chronic pain, Botox for both migraines and aesthetics, and others.
