Annie Heermans, MD

Dr. Annie Heermans, MD, is a dedicated gastroenterologist. Her journey to Essentia was inspired by connections made during her residency training in the Midwest.

Dr. Heermans attended medical school at the University of North Dakota, a choice influenced by her family's roots in Minnesota. Her parents hail from the state, and she fondly recalls summer visits to the Fargo/Moorhead area. Although new to this part of Minnesota, Dr. Heermans feels a strong connection to the region through these family ties.

Her passion for gastroenterology (GI) stems from the specialty's diverse and complex patient population. Dr. Heermans appreciates the balance of outpatient and inpatient care, coupled with the opportunity to perform procedures. She is committed to providing comprehensive general GI and hepatology care to her patients.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Heermans enjoys reading, hiking, and spending quality time with her family. She and her husband are proud parents of two children.
