Lakes Café
Hot food is available from 7:00 am - 9:30 am and from 10:30 am - 1:15 pm on weekdays. Self-service and grab & go food and beverage options are also available. You will find Lakes Café on the lower level of our hospital. Credit card payments only, American Express is not accepted. Cafeteria Hours
Monday – Friday: 6:30 am – 6:15 pm
Breakfast: 7 – 9:30 am
Lunch: 11 am – 1:15 pm
Dinner: 4 – 6 pm
Onsite Chapel
Visit our chapel on the main floor of the St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes hospital. People of all faiths are welcome to enjoy this tranquil, healing space for meditation and prayer. Our chapel also features an outdoor patio. Learn more about spiritual care at Essentia Health.
Prescription-dispensing Machine
When our onsite pharmacy is closed, you can still often leave the emergency room with what your provider prescribes. Our InstyMeds machine is stocked with common prescriptions and works like a secure vending machine. First, input your prescription information and credit card. Then, watch it dispense your exact medication.

Detroit Lakes Volunteer Advisory Committee
The Detroit Lakes Volunteer Advisory Committee helps raise money to fund special projects for Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Detroit Lakes facilities. History Timeline
1886 | Dr. L. C. Weeks arrives in Detroit Lakes.1905 | Dr. Weeks builds the first Detroit Lakes Hospital.1929 | Articles of Incorporation are signed for a community hospital.1939 | The Sisters of St. Benedict, Crookston accept responsibility for the community hospital, renaming it St. Mary’s.1978 | St. Mary’s acquires the Nursing Center.1995 | St. Mary’s acquires Emergency Medical Service.1996 | Winchester on Washington Senior Apartments open.2001 | Lincoln Park Assisted Living and Senior Apartments open.2005 | Medical and surgical floors are remodeled.2007 | St. Mary’s Nursing Center is renovated and renamed Oak Crossing.2010 | St. Mary’s 1929 and 1939 hospital buildings are demolished to make way for the new 50,000-square-foot Patient Care Clinic.
